We are excited to announce that Northern Weldarc is currently working on a new project for the Edmonton Police Service. This new-age police facility construction is materializing in the new Goodridge Corners Neighborhood. The construction area is of about 180,000 sq ft. and it’s located in the northwest corner of the city. Previously, the area was a farmland, but soon it’s going to be developed into a new urban area. The New Northwest Campus will be a combination of five facilities - the new Northwest Division Station, Recruit Training, Employee Development, the Force’s Information Management functions and Detainee Management Unit (DMU). This project is an exciting opportunity for Edmonton Police Service to build strong relationships to present a dynamic yet welcoming and secure image to the public.
Scope of Work for the New Northwest Campus:
There are other contractors also working on this project including PCL Construction and Teeple Architects. For this project, Northern Weldarc’s role is to not only supply structural and miscellaneous steel products but also fabricate various steel structures. The total scope of work for our professionals is to fabricate, supply, and install structural steel structures. Our professionals will fabricate roof metal joists along with floor and roof metal decks using structural steel.
We commenced working on this project in the late August 2016 and we’re aiming to complete our portion of work until mid July 2017. The entire project is meticulously planned by various industry leaders. Our professionals have already fabricated various structures and the installation of a few joists have already begun. Most of the fabrication work is done off-site in our facility at Sherwood Park which is a 5.5 acre secured yard.
The New Northwest Campus will Foster new Relations
The New Northwest Campus, Edmonton Police Service facility will certainly play a crucial role in providing critical public services to the residents of the area. Additionally, it will also help in establishing key public relationships within the community, as well as beyond the City. This facility will be a civic focal point as it’ll create positive relations between different regions by establishing a gateway passage into the city from the north. This new project will define new roads within the community. The best part is that the overall image projected of this project is one of dynamism, openness, and responsiveness to the surrounding community.

This Edmonton Police Service facility will act as a bridge connecting two regions, which will certainly help keep criminal activities at bay.
